Yes. Equinox or bust.
Are you serious?
Chief
Ofc. I judge a lot (not all) of people who go to equinox. I think “oh so you’re bad with money.” And for people who don’t go to equinox I think “oh so you’re smart.”
Gym is all about convenience, and I feel like you make the gym, the gym doesn’t make you. People that actually go to the gym to workout and stay fit will probably understand and not judge. I think most “highend” gyms are more social clubs and a good way to meet folks? I’m thinking of lifetime, equinox and an older spot like PerformixHouse

Yes 100% in NYC. People are huge into status indicators here.
Not in other cities though. Especially out west
Rising Star
Yes.
Equinox membership means you’re a poor who doesn’t live in a building that is stacked with TechnoGym and Tonals
Pro
Um weird answer
Blink all day.

My friends get tight when I flex my NYSC membership fer shure
Most equinox members are out of shape who like to flex that membership but have zero results to show for it. Might as well save yourself some money and go to a cheaper gym 🤷♂️
Pro
Um not true
Equinox has hot people
Of course. People judge the color of the text message bubble. If there’s a flex to be had, especially when cost offers the illusion of luxury, people are going to judge. It depends on how much you care.
For this example, it’s more contingent on the company you keep and your peers. Do you intend to workout with your best friends and share a fitness regimen? That’s the only way I could see their input being relevant.
My immediate colleagues and friends don’t even lift, bro—so Equinox money sounds stupid to them; and I’m cool with my local $20 Crunch because honestly who cares where I sweat?
People you’re not close with or have never understood people’s comfort at different salaries will judge.
I had joined PF for a bit; never went in bc the location i signed up for was def in a sketchy area, so moved to Blink with 0 regrets. Pandemic hit and decided to stick to at-home workouts for a bit, until i did ClassPass for ~6 months. Have friends/colleagues who use different gym options, including one who stick to running outside or at-home videos. Do what works for you.
I really like equinox. at my peak, I went 6 times a week. Best shape of my life. Now I pay $300 a month to play sports (not including gear and travel). To each their own. Some think I’m crazy, but I cook most of my own food and don’t drink. I save like 50% of my after tax income. We are allowed to spend our money however we want.
Rising Star
Yes. People will make assumptions about your finances/ income.
Blink-182
Gyms play up brand psychology. Google that and you’ll better understand why someone prefers/judges others if they’re in Equinox, Blink, etc.
Rising Star
People judge the most basic random things, so what…are you going to live your life based on their opinions? I used to pay ~$300 for Equinox monthly, now there are so many ways I’d rather spend it:
1) put it towards garage monthly parking
2) pay for a flight to go on a trip monthly
3) save so I can buy a 2nd property
There’s many people who purchase luxuries when they can’t afford it. I wouldn’t be ashamed to go to PF or Blink. I live for myself to have the best life I can.😘
Unfortunately they do
Pro
Yeah if you care about other peoples judgments. You might want to invest in some self help books then so that you can learn to care less about other peoples opinions about you.
I go to equinox and hate it, only because it’s 4min from my house and the nearest other gym is 10min walk. I go 7x a week, so it adds up. I couldn’t give less of an F where people (myself or my personal training clients) workout. Results speak for themselves.
