The final review books cost extra, but I found them to be a worthwhile summary of the main books.
Chief
Most companies cover the final review books.
I watched all the lectures. Once I did this I took PTO the week of or before my exam. I just worked MCQs pretty much 12 hours a day and practiced sims here and there. I passed all with this approach. I did not commit a significant amount of time to the lectures and taking notes. When I did the MCQs I took the time to understand what I did wrong.
Yes
don’t waste your time with all the lectures, just practice the multiple-choice over and over again and only watch the lectures of the topics that you struggle with.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I don’t do the sims unless I need extra practice on a topic.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I did the lectures in the early morning and the associated multiple choice at night during the work week.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Take as many multiple choice questions every day. I was doing 100-150 every day.
Don’t be one of those people who’s scared to take the test and pushes back their test date saying they’re not ready yet. Very few people go in knowing all the answers, and what matters is getting in there and giving it a shot
Just focus on the MC everything else is a waste of time.
I’m halfway through (FAR and AUD), took one before work and one while working 50hrs/week. I read the chapters, annotating along with the annotated ebook, then did MC. then as a review I went back and did sims (just enough so I was familiar with the layout). Then did the final review book the weekend before

Watch all of the skillmaster sim videos, 5-15 mins each and they do an excellent job at teaching the most efficient ways to break down and work through sims. Just watching these made up 95% of my sim practice.
I also think studying for the CPA honestly just comes down to whichever method makes you absorb and apply the material most effectively. This will look different for everyone. For me, it was going through the literature/material (reading through it) and at the same time writing notes of my own (it’s proven we remember information better when we write it with our own hands). I would do this for like one section of a chapter at a time, then at the end of the section do MCQs. So learn the material, then practice questions to apply what I’ve learned right away. Did some sims here and there but focused more on understanding and then applying with MCQs. Particularly went over the ones I got wrong to understand why. Lecture videos did nothing for me- it’s like someone just reading the textbook to you (unnecessary- can probably learn it faster just by reading it yourself).
This is helpful. I learn by writing things down.
I found ninja notes MCQs better than the Becker MCQs because they targeted your weakest areas
I did all lecture, MCQs, SIMs once. During the final review week, I tried to do all mock exam exam. Then according to the report results, I'll go back to my weakness areas and watch skillmaster videos. Currently done 3/4 and all passed on first try with the techniques above. Only BEC left!
Ninja CPA > Becker
as someone that went 4/4 in like 5 months… i would say both the lectures and mcq are important. ignore the sims EXCEPT for the videos on research sims, because reg/aud/far each have different authoritative literature that it’s important to be able to navigate.
1. Google “Becker Bump” (Reddit thread) and use the Google doc to get an idea of what scores you need on the mock exam to be ready.
2. Know your test taking skills/study skills. For example, I’ve always been a pretty good test taker and do better cramming. So I would do a speed skim through the book. Any topic that I knew was a weak area I’d watch the lecture. Answer a few multiple choice at the end of each section to see if I understood. Then took the first mock exam to see where my weak areas were and then watched the videos for those areas. Some people I know needed to do every single task to make sure they understood.
Rising Star
Tip is to not use Becker, and go with Roger instead. Ez pass.
Roger didn’t work for me. I found him to be quite irritating.
In general take PTO the day before your test to study
