Do you consider yourself a mentor at work? If so, what are your strategies for developing talent within your organization? For me, I take pride in this role after being at the company for 5+ years.

I am working towards becoming a mentor-like figure but I'm a little younger than several people on my team and I just got promoted to manager so it's not necessarily easy to consider myself a mentor to any of them. I think with new hires it will be easier to serve in that capacity

Honestly, no, I have no interest in being a mentor. I’m in a leadership role and I will help my employees develop their career and skills that way, but I wouldn’t call myself a mentor. It’s just not something I was ever appealing to me.

I have definitely become a mentor-like figure as I have become a more senior engineer and a person with above average company seniority. But I have never had a formal mentor/mentee relationship.

As far as strategies for developing talent, I stress the importance of learning by doing. Learning by observation or reading written instructions only takes you so far. You have to go out and do things yourself to get a full understanding.

I also stress the importance of being as self-sufficient as possible. The more things you know how to do yourself, the less dependent you are on others to get things done.

Considering a move in-house to NBC Universal in any litigation role (though I’d really go to wherever there is a need, whether litigation or business affairs generally). Coming from 4th year law firm litigation experience in a variety of areas but mostly data breach, e-discovery, breach of K. Do I apply with an employee referral or via LinkedIn recruiter that reached out? Alternatively, if anyone has experience applying/at NBCU, I’d so appreciate general advice :) TIA.

I have an interview coming up for a Case Manager position for the in-home care company. I would have 16 patients in my caseload 9 locally & 6 out of town. The company said the case managers are the backbone to their organization. Is the workload much greater than the in home nurse? Would a Case Managers make more an hour bc of their leadership decisions & caseload they are responsible for? In Indeed the ranges for salary varied. What would you negotiate for in NW Ohio area?
