Run. “Prove it to me” is small stuff, like for HVAC estimates.
I’d be happy to share that information, once you share with me your pay stubs and the salary of everyone in the company.
Prove it to them by accepting the competing offer and declining theirs. Be sure to let them know that their request breaches a massive privacy trust and your confidence in how they handle other personal or private matters, and that this contributed to your decision to decline.
Realize also that what i’m suggesting has the potential to burn a bridge.
💯👏
Also counter point I wouldn’t wanna work at an agency that hires anyone without vetting their claims
No, babes. Just no lol
That's a new red flag to put on the list. It is not normal to be asked to see the complete offer, if you were asked for the salary range or something like that it is something more normal but also not very common.
I have had to when trying to get my employer to counter. Never for a prospective role.

This makes sense. If it’s a prospective role, it’s like “either my request is within your budget or it’s not” but I’m not sure what proving it is supposed to achieve…other than turning off the candidate.
Hey all I’m not sure Id agree with the current take. You do know that there is a general thread in culture of people who are just lying about offers / salaries / experiences. Massively upvoted threads telling workers of all kinds to lie. I feel like it’s responsible of them to verify your offer as long as you don’t have to show them any confidential info. Like - generally right now workers are lying about all kinds of stuff and I wouldn’t judge a future employer for asking for proof on anything
I get your point if I was going to my current company and trying to use the offer as leverage for a raise, but these are two separate agencies. I would assume they are interviewing me for a reason.
Thanks for the replies so far! What about them verbally asking the amount of the offer before making one?

It’s the same thing. If you say to them “I’d like $100k for this role”, either they say that’s within their budget or they say sorry, we can’t. I don’t know why they’d need to see evidence. The “evidence” is their own budget.
I have never been asked to show other job offers. It seems a bit odd to me. If you don't want to share the details of the other offer, you can say that you don't feel comfortable sharing that information. If you want, you can provide the approximate salary range of the other offer, but nothing else.
I think the internet is too quick to call everything a red flag these days. If they verbally asked for the number, that seems ok. If they want to see the actual offer letter … ok, a little mistrusting, but not a dealbreaker if everything else looks kosher. Just my opinion though.
