Well this all seems set up for failure.
What kind of behavior are you noticing/experiencing? Have you tried talking to your PM partner? Assuming your agency is organized with AM/PM partnership in mind. And it’s concerning that your manager’s first response is to beware instead of ideas to improve the dynamic.
Feel free to DM if I can be of help, I’ve been leading PM teams for years and cliquey don’t fly in my world.
Actually, I don't. All my team doesn't like me because they think I'm too detailed
Honestly the PM team gets annoyed with me because I PM better than them but oh well, I try to stay in my lane but sometimes I don't think they handle stuff properly tbh
They definitely get to sassy with people. Who gets sassy via email? Who cares?
Until my recent company, I’ve never found sales and delivery to speak at a respectful level or, ekkk, get along. EVER.
Yes, I do. I’ve always made it a point to get along with my PM partners and found that establishing a good rapport pays off in the end.
I agree. How can you operate successfully if Account and PM aren't a team? Historically that partnership has been a priority wherever I worked.
I had my “once in a lifetime” working partnership with one of my PMs. She and I were so in sync and she’s now one of my friends.
Then I was moved to another team, and I miss her so much. My new PM team is so impatient and they are happy to blame their mistakes on the AM team. It took forever (10 months) to earn their trust, but things have gotten slowly better. They’re beyond sassy into straight up rude sometimes, and their work isn’t always very accurate.
I miss my old team 😭
I've been there – working with Project Management teams can be tricky. I used to be a PM myself, and when I switched to the account side, I had some clashes with PMs because I understood both roles. Your manager's warning might be based on their experience, so staying cautious could be wise. 🤷🏻♂️
