Adderall during the day, Xanax at night
I think this is part of the culture at PwC. The managers want you to feel less than. It’s not a great place to work.
Just don’t take it personal, we aren’t saving lives..
I have 20yes of experience and I still get anxiety. But I've learnt to not let it freeze me. You have anxiety cause you care to do well and not mess up. It's not a bad thing. Recognize that and the years of repetition does make it better.
Good managers don’t want you to feel bad... and have just as little control over their pay as you.
I think a lot of people have a problem with anxiety. Try to remember it’s a normal human emotion we all have to some extent. Maybe try headspace (meditation app)
SA1 - Don't project your shitty experience as facts for the rest of the world. I'm a manager and I spend more time training my staff and seniors than I do reviewing their work. You'll understand how this works a little better in a few years.
Get anxious all the time. Especially when manager emails saying they have finished reviewing and to sync up. Or, every time I go to speak to client (even if I have spoken to them many times before). Started on a brand new client last week - my anxiety was through the roof! Wish I had a solution though...
Thanks for sharing, everyone. It does help to know I’m not alone.
Yes, managers want you to feel bad. That’s a part of the job so that they can defend the low pay that we get...that’s the reason why people are not willing to train and mentor...if you know it all, they won’t get an excuse
Used to, but since the worst of the bunch don't end up getting fired, stopped caring.
Yes
Every time
Yes - often
Yes everyday
Haha yes yes and yes
This is normal
Yes most of the time but that’s what consulting is all about - you learn as you go and everything is a crash course... so you are expected to pick up things
Basically every day
I think it's pretty obvious that we all do at one point or another. Also, look at the other side, how often do you see something someone else has done and think some variation of "this guy doesn't know what he's doing". I see just enough to make me think I'm not always the village idiot.
Yes me as well. But just wanted to give a quick shoutout to the beauty of anxiety medication (SSRIs not Xanax). Lexapro took a lot of the edge off for me without any bad side effects. Just something to consider.
