Quite the contrary. I purposefully schedule emails to be sent at the most random night hours, even 2:27am. Shows character.
I think you must not have updated your title in a while, no way you’re not a partner
You’re overthinking it
Don't hold emails. One guy would send them at 9am. All the while I'd been cussing him since 6am. He could never get timezones right. Just send it.
Why would it look any less professional than responding the following day?
I wouldn’t send it super late if not a busy time. Don’t want client thinking you signed off on something when you were exhausted at 2 am.
Depends on the email. If it is urgent then you should be responding, even if it’s just a “confirm receipt, looking into it” reply.
If there is a client emergency, then I would send when I could. If it's not urgent, leave it to the next day otherwise you're setting expectations that you're always on and will reply no matter what the time and that is not a great look for you or other members of the team. I tend to work later in the evening rather than early in the morning, but team members hate it because they assume I am virtue signalling about how late I'm working and they feel under pressure to do the same. I'm not - people should be free to work whenever it makes sense for them, as long as it doesn't impact the team. These days I try to restrict the number of emails I send out of normal office hours unless its an emergency.
I send emails whenever. I rather people see that I’m working late trying to get shit done. It also gives the person on the other end the most amount of time to look into it. Plus I don’t want to put extra effort to make it look like I’m not working ridiculous hours. If someone said something then please help me not work so late lol
There is nothing wrong with responding at night. I get into the office very early and use that time to respond to the emails that come in later. It is much easier to work on them before the rush of the day.
On the contrary, they might appreciate you working hard late at night
You’re working in accounting … people know you’re working all hours, may as well let it be known.
I try to follow the golden rule - I hate getting bombarded with non-urgent email at off hours so I do my best to not do it to others
