Anyone here invest in index funds? I’m thinking about VTSAX but FXROX has no expense fees so it looks enticing. But I hear most people rave about VTSAX
If anyone is looking to join a fast growing healthcare tech company please let me know! We’re on a big hiring push over the coming weeks, ranging from engineering roles, client services, account management, product management, and HR.
What are some tips for planning a small work party! We have a baby on the way in the department and would like to have a small celebration after school, probably in one of our classrooms, before she goes on maternity leave.
New Expense policy for EY? Your thoughts
Anyone else feel like we’re all getting a raw deal on healthcare? Switched to industry and one 30 minute doc appointment is $450 out of pocket.
What salary did you find that you no longer had to worry about money? Basically you didn't have to think twice about buying something you want For reference, currently make 135k in a T2 city but am the sole earner for my family and also have 1200/month in student loans, so still feel like I'm not there yet.
Those of you that went off on your own to start a business, what did you do about health insurance? I’m single, 28, no dependents.
New to investing, but want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I've maxed out my 401K and am looking to open an IRA. I know everyone recommends backdooring this into a Roth IRA, but if my plan is to move/retire to a state with no state income tax, wouldn't traditional make more sense? Or am I overthinking this? Also, if I go the backdoor route, how do I make sure I don't get taxed again, when i convert to a Roth? Thanks in advance!
Accenture Managers & up: does Accenture pay a new phone + plan? Or do they just reimburse the cost of your personal plan. Turning in my one and only phone to D and trying to decide if I need to buy a new one now or figure out a temporary solution until Accenture sends one in about a month when I start.
Hey, I am currently in the process to decide between a BCG and Bain offer for a project leader role in one of their CEMA/Europe offices. I am joining from another boutique strategy consulting firm and would be interested to hear if the travel policies and expense policies differ a lot between Bain and BCG in Europe. I would assume for both companies the general rule is, if it is beneficial for the project / client there is no issue e.g. if you want to travel on a Sunday evening instead of Monday @
Received a verbal offer from a recruiter congratulating me on clearing the final round. However did not receive a written offer or what the TC package would look like. They have started the right to work checks and the investments / pension plan declaration. Is this normal? Should I send across any documents or wait for the written offer to come through (not even sure if the terms offered would be favourable!!)? Anyone faced a similar situation / have any advice on how to proceed? Thanks!
Obviously investment strategies differ, but where do you draw the line on not choosing a fund based on the expense ratio whether for an index fund and also for a managed fund?
I don't understand the Deloitte cell phone expense policy. $200 for equipment? Doesn't Deloitte pay for our work phones anyway without having to expense? I remember just being given one when joining
I’m thinking about going in house like many attorneys right now. I’ve been practicing 10 years doing commercial real estate with a concentration in hospitality. I don’t want to give up the hospitality practice but I’m not sure I want to make partner at the large firm I’m at. Curious about people’s experience moving in house. Best way to apply (recruiter?) Pay cuts? Work life balance? Benefits? I can’t seem to get noticed at the larger companies who have generic resume dumps. Thanks!
Tax deduction help. Now that we are ending the year I want to find out if there are any other tax deductions I am missing. I maxed out the 401k and hsa (also Roth but that’s post). Is there anything else I can do? Single 27 and no home.
What’s a good fun purchase on a associate 1 salary. I’m putting my max in 401k but I want to splurge on 1 thing.
Recently joined PwC and submitted an expense report which got approved. How long does it take to get the deposit? Does it come with the paycheck or separately?
How do I set myself up for success in the first 30 days of my new EA role? What questions should I be asking? How often should I be meeting with my executive? 2-3 times a week or daily morning touch base calls?
What’s a reasonable signing bonus to ask for. Going from Deloitte Manager to SVP of a larger firm that’s looking to get into consulting. 215k base.
Since the start of the pandemic, I have been fairly safe and really haven’t gone anywhere (I think I went to TJ Maxx once in a moment of weakness lol). My family on the other hand hasn’t taken any precautions and actually did contract COVID. They keep telling me I’m paranoid and need to start going out but with COVID being worse now than it was back in March, I rather just not. I just want them off my back and wish they would respect my decision to not expose myself like I respected them.

Whats the avg comp for program manager at@google
Feeling like I want to switch from audit to tax because I have a newborn at home and I don’t want to travel anymore. I really love public accounting and don’t want to leave it. Any thoughts?
For Kellogg why are some people interviewing with adcoms and others are interviewing with students/alumni?
Latest word on the street for any provider systems hiring? Seems most are still on a freeze for non-clinical roles. I was laid off during Covid a few months ago and honestly don’t want to go back to consulting. Most of my experience is in provider work (rev cycle, operations) and have reached out to my network but looks like I’ll have to wait it out much longer, or try a new industry.
For Joe’s email - Should we have to request the leadership to exclude us in the loop for anything on retention bonus or market adjustments, because anyhow they won’t be offered to us?
Individual thank you emails or sometimes address 2 people on one? Or just hit each person with a quick thanks? A shop surprised me with way more interviews than expected & I want to thank them for their time.
What are other people doing to drive diversity in leadership? I am hiring below me but want to hire at my level. Where do you source outside your network?
15+ YoE with a mix of tech / analytics strategy + hands on AI/ML implementation both at boutique and Big 4 + program leadership (managing 20 - 30 person cross-functional teams). Would aiming for $350k TC be too high? What are potential exit ramps?
Do companies weigh certs more than hands-on experience? (ie: open source contributions, projects, etc) Asking b/c I'm joining big 4 in cyber and wanted to know whether I should prioritize certs over developing my skillet through projects? Thanks
I never thought that I'd say this, but I want to see offices and cubes make a return to the workplace. Either that or 70-100% work from home. Only having the option of open workspaces is terrible.
Has anyone gotten approved for Delta’s Reclaim My Status program? What documentation did you provide?
My last day with Deloitte was a week ago - I signed several authorization forms allowing them to withhold from my final paycheck the 1/2 of my sign-on bonus I owe back for leaving in 1.5 years, sans some FICA taxes. Today, I received a barely coherent email saying, “due to some glitch, the loan amount wasn’t adjusted from pay-stub”... and asking me to wire transfer the amount to them. It’s to the point that if it wasn’t on the same thread as the original email, I would assume it’s a scam. Wtf?
