I recently joined TCS but I was moved into very different project which was told during hiring. Also they told me for joining incentive but later after 65 days of joining they didn't give saying your business aproval got rejected. I really want to be with TCS but due to project dissatisfaction, I am looking for different job. I am not sure if I can leave the organisation soo soon(4 months) and it should not effect my carrier.

The school should have in place a procedure to inform close contacts without violating your privacy. Just inform whoever is in charge of that. Also, there should be a procedure in place for the school to communicate needed information to and from your sub. I usually put an auto-reply on my email and voice-mail stating "I am out until (date), please call the school if you require immediate assistance."
I notified the principal about Covid and I asked her to notify parents. She won’t. Also, no way to contact sub. Dumb system. The schools and parents depend too much on the classroom teacher! It shouldn’t be that way because as you can see, they can be out for extended period and others need to pick up the slack!

NY state, I believe, still has Covid leave protocols in place. Districts that don’t… that’s messed up because it’s not your fault.

For years, people have been coming to work sick with cold, flu, asthma. Probably they shouldn't have, but it's always been an option.
You'll be sent home for COVID (and rightly so; it's more dangerous than those others). If they send you home, you shouldn't burn your sick days.

None of their business your medical situation. The school should notify their kid has “come in close
contact w someone with Covid.” Not your job to do that.
And you have to use PERSONAL days for Covid? I’d double check that.
Rising Star
We have to use sick days for Covid too.
Been that way for about a year
I always keep parents and students in the loop because the admin in my building have not always been forthcoming with information to protect and warn the staff or the school community.
They got rid of Covid leave in June! It’s so f- ed up! Put us in an unventilated room, doors shut for violent intruders, and radiator broken( needs a new valve) and unmasked kids and BAM, here comes Covid!! It’s inevitable!
There are privacy laws that say you can't tell parents here.
Why would you do that?
My district took away the COVID leave and we are required use our own days. Several teachers in my building are currently out with COVID. We will be out without pay if you don’t have enough days! So sad.
I would post an ‘out of office’ email for parents. Ask parents to directly contact the office for any dismissal changes. Personally, I would tell my parents I have COVID. The virus will most likely move through your room and parents should have a heads up. I hope you feel better soon!

I always let them know when I’m out and if it was for a contagious illness, I give them a heads up. Hope you have a quick recovery!
Don't feel bad at all.
I had this happen to me and honestly, I was too sick to worry about it then, but don't let your level of sick influence what you feel you need to do for the school. I only let parents know information about when I will return if I know. I chose to inform them then that I had been in the hospital and that I would be back soon while announcing my pregnancy at the same time (why I was so sick). This was after over half the year, however, when strong relationships had been formed.
Jump to this year and 1 week in I was put on bed rest and then unexpectedly went I to labor the morning I was meant to return. I have not posted anything to Dojo or responded to any parents because I know my principal informed them I was out. I also prepared my kids for the idea that I may have to leave all of a sudden or see them one day but not be back the next.
Generally, I don't say why I'm out, just that I am and they need to inform the school, not me of anything during the day (or week, etc).

Unless there's a rule or law to the contrary, you should tell parents you're out with COVID. Sharing that info is the best way to make sure they watch their kids for symptoms and take measures to stop it from spreading.
You also shouldn't feel required to check your email while on sick leave. See if your email program has a vacation/auto-response mode so you can auto-generate a response to anybody who emails you, letting them know they should contact the school directly if it's urgent.
We have a message to send to parents if someone tests positive. It reads basically, “There was a potential exposure to Covid-19 in your child’s classroom on ___ (date). Please monitor your child for symptoms. We are not requiring any quarantines at this time but if you would like to have a Covid-19 test for your child reach out to the school nurse and she will coordinate getting you one at no cost.”
I send this out in Remind!
When I’m out sick, I’m out sick. I do my sub plans and I still forward any important emails/messages from parents to the main office but if I’m taking my own sick day, nothing in school is my problem.
We haven’t had additional Covid sick days since the 20-21 school year :/ I know teachers who had Covid multiple times and had to take them unpaid because they ran out of sick days :/ absolutely sucks :/
Yes, I think that's the responsible thing to do.
No COVID leave. No masks, no windows that open. HVAC system so clogged with dirt that it falls out onto the desks. Doors are locked shut. No contract tracing. Back to pre-COVID. Oh and HR said that there is no proof that anyone can catch COVID from a coworker or student. No notification of positive cases. All accommodations were denied. All three staff in same office caught COVID from each other but HR said we could not catch it from each other, we are safe. So we all caught COVID from each other and Now I have long COVID. Boss said well at least you all got it together over the summer and didn’t get it while school was in session (we are 12 month employees)
That is awful sounds like our school do not care as long as parents don’t know the truth about kids being sick
