Do you think engineers are better at solving problems or preventing them? I think prevention is harder because success is basically invisible.

We’re better at solving than preventing in my opinion. Tough to prevent unknowns

I think frequently there is no management buy-in on fixing things correctly, since that takes extra time, they are generally more interested in the throughput than they are in a good solution. On a different side of things, work is frequently compartmentalized, so even though you were the last person to work on something, you are frequently instructed not to touch anything else. (You are blamed for it later. ) But no acknowledgment that this same issue was brought up previously.
It is very disheartening that's this same course of events happens over and over and......

Depends on the engineer, I think both types are needed though. I think I’m a solver myself but need other engineers to help reign in

Really struggling with attrition right now and we seem to be a cycle of countering people, trying to keep governance but being reactive! Any ideas on a reward strategy which enables us to be flexible when we need it but retain a degree of control so it doesn’t get out of control?

How to deal with people flirting with you at work.
I’m married, and one of my coworkers flirts with me. Nothing super overt, but definitely not professional. We’re good friends and work together constantly because we’re on the same client, so I don’t want to make it awkward. Do I just do nothing and let it go? It is mostly just odd I’m not super offended, but I’m also clearly uninterested!

I work in sf and Nyc and have now saved enough where I’m wondering if it makes sense to buy rather than rent an apartment as an investment. Tricky part is I’m still quite young and this wouldn’t be my lifelong/family home. Have also considered buying in less metropolitan areas and renting them out for passive income. Curious if anyone’s gone through this process before and have thoughts ?

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.
