I think longer. At least it seems like all my days take longer.
That’s an interesting question! I’d guess it might depend on the type of engineering. Some engineers work in high-stress environments, which could impact health, while others might have more flexible, low-stress jobs. Overall, I think lifestyle choices and work-life balance play a bigger role than the field itself.
I don't know. But I wonder if anyone has ever come up with reliable numbers on that. If I had to guess, I'd think it might not be vastly different than the general population. I would assume engineers would be smart enough to take reasonable care of themselves, though I've certainly seen exceptions to that. And the work is not, for the most part, physically dangerous. So I'd expect engineers to have an average lifespan.
I'd assume longer. There's definitely stress that comes with the job, but it tends to pay well enough to afford good healthcare, which too many in the general public don't have access to.
Do you have data to support this? You're likely upper class or on your way to be if you're young. This isn't Wall Street or Big Law/Accounting.
In the USA there is a direct link between lifespan and eduction. Engineers have above average education thus above average lifespan.
Longer, indisputably: Engineers are smarter than most. This increases your lifespan.
Probably average
It depends. If you are after the money, it will shorten your life
My answer and recommendation to this question is to add business knowledge on top of engineering knowledge.
Adding an MBA or equivalent would be a great combination .
From there , Engineering skills can be applied to create, develop, run, and/or operate a business.
Some colleagues I have have become startup founders, in bizdev, operations, and have also become wiser in investments.

Longer probably
Yes this i think is true we give most of our time to the job .an it is very important an stressful 🙃
One of the reasons I became an engineer is so that I could still go to work after banging myself up doing one of my more extreme sports hobbies. We can continue doing our job longer than less physical jobs.
Back to the question, I don't know if we would live much longer given that most people die of heart disease or cancer.
Shorter in my opinion. I have no facts to back up this claim, but it seems like higher blood pressure and heart attacks are more common in this industry than others I've worked in.
