Consider buying a smart tv and use the hdmi port... then you have a tv when you don’t need it as a monitor anymore. You can find monitor size TVs for $150 or less
I have an LG 34" ultrawide monitor and I love it. I'll likely buy another for the office when I start going back in regularly. I prefer to buy a monitor over using a TV because the resolution is so much better and it's easier to look at for 12+ hours a day.
I have a large dell for my second monitor with my laptop.
I use a Samsung ultra wide monitor and a normal Samsung 24 turned vertical for reading long documents and depo transcripts.

My set up is a Microsoft SurfaceGo connected to two Samsung displays via a WavLink dock. Works/worked well. This past week, after a year, there’s some connectivity issues. Not sure if it’s the cable or what. Haven’t investigated too much yet.
I use this Asus one and really like it. Fits in laptop case so I have 2 monitors no matter where I go. I use a stand meant for ipads to hold it, the case/stand it comes with isn’t that good.

I have an LG 24" from Costco that was cheap, like $85, and it's great. My ONLY gripe is that the base isn't flat, so I can't set things on it - I lose like 8 square inches of desk space on an already-small desk.
