Yes I have locs & I refuse to get my hair restwisted often. I’m not thinning my hair out to please these folks. I do make sure I look presentable tho, that’s all that matters.
Period
I make sure to interview with my natural hair so there are no surprises
Bowl Leader
Oh yea I’m in there with all the styles crochet, blowouts , twists , twist out, turbans … I’m doing me
Yes I do. As a person in leadership I do it so other junior women of color feel empowered to do so too. Something I didn’t see as I was going up the ranks.
Beautiful!
Of course, this is the hair that grew out of my head. I’m now 11 months loc’d and I’ll go a little while without a retwist so my hair gets pretty frizzy, but I make sure it still looks neat when I’m in the office. I believe nowadays a company would go through hell on social media if a black woman were to be confronted about her choice of hairstyle in the office
Yes! I always sport my natural curls at work. They're beautiful and I love them, nobody can tell me otherwise.
Yes ! Always changing it up. I have a co worker who doesn’t change it up , she feels she need to stay constant with a certain hairstyle so coworkers can recognize her. She is upper management, and that conversation rubbed me off in a wired way.
That's unerving, how did yall end up having the conversation?
I've worn my natural hair (short natural cut) in corporate settings since 1996.
I don't currently, I don't think my workplace could handle it
What do you mean "could handle it?"
Yes, knotless and stitch braids.
Love knotless braids
Yes, I wear my natural hair in a slick low bun from time to time.
yes1 I don't have time to style, that's why. I just make a messy bun because my curls are so stubborn.
I do now. But when I was younger I was self-conscious about it, sorry to say. Glad things are changing.
Yes! I've recently eased into it after seeing women online rocking braids in their corporate attire. So beautiful and saves time in the morning. Hop into the trend!
I do but not often. I tend to gravitate towards wearing wigs. My natural hair is about shoulder blade length and is heat damaged but not heat trained so I don’t have too many options (outside of braids because I’m tender-headed). Also a lot less maintenance.
yes! box braids, crochet twists, fro out, weaves, etc etc. they can’t tell me nothing!
I’d give all of my previous companies bits of pieces of my natural hair. I saw the looks that I got with it and I heard colleagues talking about other people’s hair negatively. So, I played the part to get ahead. But now, since I’ve been at Netflix, I can show up as myself unapologetically. They get all of this blackness & don’t bat an eye. It really depends on how diverse & accepting a company is from the top down.
Yes! I’m a wash and go type of person. I just make sure my fade is on point and keep it moving. I wore my hair the same way in my interview so there’s no surprises. sad we have to do this just in case lameee
Yes. I wear my natural hair all the time because it’s mine lol but I have absolutely hesitated at the idea of wearing braids as a protective style (not just at work but in general).
