Does anybody work with illustrator/designer hybrids? How common is this? I’m about to hire and am ideally looking for a fantastic super-hybrid. Curious how likely i am to find one (obviously with the right budget)

Yep, I’ve got a friend who is one! Her official title is Art Director, but she’s definitely a designer-illustrator. Mad tablet chops

Almost every designer I’ve hired (~20) is the hybrid you’ve described. Finding them earlier in their career is easier, but will require more mentorship investment. The more established folks will come with a justified premium and they turn up much less often. Watch out for designers who claim they can illustrate but lack the skills to do it in real-world scenarios (on a deadline, lots of potential revisions, stretching across different styles, etc). Good luck!

am currently working as a project structural engineer in London and feel like structural engineering is a dead end job. I have spoken with engineers with 10years+ of experience and their salary is just over 50k.

Do any of you guys in the construction industry or any other engineering industry have any advice? I'm considering either switching to machine learning engineering or becoming a project manager. My degree feels so useless.
