Connect with a headhunter you can trust they’ll have jobs that can fit what you’re looking for. Very competitive to apply to high level jobs on your own.
Also know as an agency recruiter or Executive Recruiter but it’s a person with a 3rd party agency who works with companies and hiring managers and they’ll bring in the right candidates for the job. For example I’m an Executive Recruiter aka headhunter and specialize in accounting and finance positions

I know that networking is a lot easier but, depending on your skill set, I know a few who get offers by applying.

I networked through my projects while in public accounting and random people I have met. I don’t think I’ve ever made a meaningful connection in a networking event but, I have made a whole bunch through beer league sports and just being friendly.
Can definitely get that amount by just applying in data scientist, data analytics, and other similar roles. That said it is much easier having a referral or knowing someone
Got in-house job. Didn’t know anyone. Applied on the website. Good luck!
Probably depends on your field.
My last two were above that amount and I got the first one just by having someone reach out to me, actually. Before this terrible economy we are in, that is.
Those mid-senior level jobs (5-10yrs exp) are the toughest to get as there are just so many folks in the job market now (millennials/gen x). For all of 2021-22 millions were on the sidelines but now many are returning plus the fall 2022 layoffs have tons of folks pivoting. It’s just loaded with talent. I referred two people to my company and both got rejected (one posting is still up 4mos later).
I left BNYM for another place. I work as a software dev. I read the job description, met the qualifications and applied. Job required many specifics with 5 years of experience. The job description was actually well written and reasonable. The manager liked me and I got the got the job. I read the offer letter, The base salary was a little higher than average and more than what I was making but the craziness came with RSUs and annual bonus putting me at $225K for TC.
I'm currently working on a J/O that base is $150K w/ OTE to be $75K-$100K and putting the TC at $225-$250K. They're out there, just have to keep searching.
Actually I just sent you a DM
I’d love to put myself out there but can’t let me employer see. So I’m un searchable. I know if they see my availability for a new job, I would be cut immediately.
There are ways to put yourself out there. The applications directly on companies websites and LinkedIn are confidential. There is no way for the employer to find out about your activity. Also, talk to people in your network and let them know you are looking.

I feel very similar. I am going to find an executive recruiter. I am just not sure where to start with recruiting companies.
Do you also cover finance and pharma?
Application: 2
Knew someone: 1
Headhunted: 2
It’s a competitive world no matter which way you see it. Knowing someone with that industry is typical the best, but I believe if you have the skills and can prove your fit for this job, then you got it.
I have gotten when I was starting $150-250k jobs in as little as 2 interviews with strangers and no connections or referrals. I only see connections and referrals having a role for the big roles of $400k plus.
