It’s about the value you offer, not your bills.
Write down your wins/accomplishments with as much detail and proof as possible.
Google salary surveys to get an understanding of the salary bands for your role (usually not broken out by city, so you’ll need to do a lil Cost of living adjustment)
If that doesn’t work, get another offer at a place you would actually work at and ask your boss to match it or else you’ll be forced to take it. And you have to be ready to walk and take the new gig, or else you’re just bluffing.
Put together a proposal for your manager that demonstrates WHY you deserve a raise (and not just cost of living). Ideally, you'll want something quantifiable to drive home the value you bring to the firm (think numbers). Good luck!
