I got an offer from another company. Currently working in walmart. The main idea behind getting an offer is to ask for a salary rise. I was very much underpaid here. So I thought getting an offer will help increase my pay here in walmart by getting counter offer from them. But i am not sure if I discuss with my manager it will backfire me.Walmart

Just makes getting interviews a little easier

Agree with this. Once you get the interview, it’s all about selling yourself and your experiences. I went from a SM at a National firm with no public company experience (all private cos) to a VP of Actg role for a large publicly traded company with 10k employees.
Yes. Not that it’s impossible to jump from mid-tier to a great job, but just going off job postings in my area, pretty much all of them list B4 experience as either a requirement for the job or as a preference.
True, but if you’re competing with someone who meets more of the “requirements” than you then they have a slight advantage on paper. So less likely to get screened out pre-interview, but in this job market probably not gonna matter much anyways since there are far more openings than qualified candidates
Of the people who left my midtier company in recent memory... 1) controller of midsized 100M-500M subsidiary of a fortune 500 2) assistant controller of privately held 500M company 3) internal audit manager at fortune 500 4) senior mgr technical accounting private 1B revenue company

Is a B4 firm trying to recruit you on that point alone (and not a salary bump of a meaningful amount)?
I think it’s important to have it on your resume but it doesn’t have to be a previous job. Meaning it’s okay to jump from big 4 to mid tier after a few years

Yes. You can do well without it on your resumes, but more doors will be held open and you will have many more recruiters chasing you
