Yes. Their background check is very extensive.
But can’t they do the verification after I join the firm. Does it have to be done before joining?
No. You are "hiding" something OP.
Yeah who cares
All they’re legally allowed to do is confirm employment. This happens for many reasons. Opening lines of credit, new jobs, references, etc. you’re fine. Unless you work for a place that hires ten people nobody’s going to care. They don’t self identify as D, it’s subbed out to a generic firm that does them
Uh yeah, offers are contingent on a clean BG check
What are you hiding OP ?
I have nothing to hide. I don’t want the current employer to revoke my visa if they get to know that I am moving...
Nai nai nai!!!!!!! :P
Something useful for future aspirants...D will contact your current employer 10 days before your DOJ unless you ask them not to contact...but they do want to contact your current employer before you join...
did you inflate your salary?
I get it, I had a similar experience. It’s often not a question of if it’s good but when. I had a start date a way away and was fine with them calling but I wanted to tell my old employer rather than have them call with a background check. I also didn’t want to give 3 months notice and get fired either.
Yes
Isn’t it just a typical background check? (Criminal history, employment check, education, etc.). Do they go much deeper than that?
Super extensive. I went through it again for an internal role transfer, and I was told all current employees will have to go through it again every 5-7 years. They are not messing around
Out of curiosity: what do they check that other companies don’t ?
I am assuming they are not stupid to check with your current employer while I am waiting for the visa transfer. That’s all I care...
Makes sense
