Apple is a no. Requiring 3 days a week
Dang
There are dedicated IP Lit groups at all the big tech companies. Apple’s is probably the most prominent, given how much litigation it has. They’re big on in-office, but they’re becoming more flexible on which office (very recently used to be only Cupertino). All are very desirable and hard to get without an in; if you/your firm does work for the company, that’ll be huge.
Yes, there are way more corporate roles than lit roles, it will be way easier to go in house. Just go to any big tech’s job board and count the number of corporate versus litigation roles open. (Also, product counsel is probably open with tech trans background.)
I don’t think there would be a difference in pay.
FAANG or MAANG at this point
Following up on this topic, do people think it’s worth going to a FAANG if you have to move to the San Francisco Bay Area or New York? I know salaries are higher at FAANG, but I am not sure it is worth being house poor for the rest of one’s life. Seems like the best deal would be to be remote with a FAANG (which doesn’t seem to be possible consistently other than maybe Meta). Curious if the reason for joining FAANG (especially if you have to move) is to get the item on one’s resume and that allows for upward potential.
