Layoffs at Walmart corporate 😬😬
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I think you should just have a good story. I was laid off in ‘10. My company was purchased and all they wanted was the software and none of the people, except leadership. So the let everyone go.And I tell people that.
And in today’s environment layoffs happen all the time so it’s not nearly as detrimental to ones career as it was 20 yrs ago.
Most employers/past employees have a tacit unspoken agreement. Don’t badmouth your employer, and they will usually refrain from speaking poorly about you
And sometimes it's written into your severance agreement too
It appears as any other employment record. Start date and end date
There are standard numbers now to call, most of which are outsourced. They are only able to confirm dates and titles.
References are a completely different ball game...
Where do they get your employment dates from? Can't be the actual employer if it's your current one.
Take you best guess on day and as long as you're not terribly far off (a couple of month or so), they won't say anything to you about it. I started keeping track of the actual days since the second time I switched companies when I realized I'd likely never be a lifer at any one company.
