I worked at an OMG company a few years ago. Same thing, was told they they wanted to hire me, just needed the final internal budget approvals to go through. Was finally hired about a month later. Lots of red tape at OMG companies.
Appreciate the insight!
I haven't heard anything about a hiring freeze there. It can be scary when you are not getting the offer that was promised, but it could take time. Perhaps, someone was on vacation whose approval was needed? It is a good sign you were not ghosted. I would give it a week then ask if there is any further information needed on my end.
Good point! I’ll take your advice
Not sure there's a hiring freeze across all departments/company-wide, but I wouldn't be surprised if hiring has slowed down a bit. We are in a recession, and while approvals already can take a fair amount of time on their own, with the economic downturn it could be that they're just waiting until things open up a bit or the beginning of next year. Hope you hear back soon!
Thanks! I guess I was just a tad surprised that they’d want to interview people and even extend a verbal offer if they don’t have their finances in check first. That said, totally hear you on the economy
Is the role with Omnicom directly or one of it's agencies? I work for TMA and they just laid off people a couple weeks ago, and that included rescinding a handful of pending offers and closing out job listings that hasn't been filled yet.
Appreciate the insight. This would be for PHD
Waiting a few weeks wouldn’t be unheard of to get an offer. The agency dept head and CFO needs to agree the hit to bottom line, possibly CEO, then have it sent up to OMG who won’t necessarily be the quickest.
Thanks!
