Notice what leadership does. My leadership always takes vacation. It's important to unplug and get away. It can give you another perspective and you come back ready to kick ass. Taking time off improves your productively and effectiveness.
You'll note I said "wherever possible". Not, all the time. It's finding the right balance. I follow the same principle as what I describe above. I'm not asking you to sacrifice your PTO altogether. There will be times when you've booked PTO and it is unreasonable for your managers, etc to ask you to give it up. You may say it bothers you @A1, but this is the industry we're in and it's one of the reasons compensation can outpace industry as your career develops. If you want complete flexibility or to be able to take 4 weeks off, go into the public service or take an industry job.
Take the PTO. Not your fault the firm punishes you with their own contradicting policy
Deloitte gets 25 days (200 hours) until manager. Always use PTO. Life first, work second
Luckily, PTO doesn't count against utilization at ACN. I'd be pissed if it did.
^exactly, D1. I'm using every damn hour of my PTO. Not my fault if utilization is low for reasons outside my control. That's no reason to punish myself by not using my PTO.
176. Also, at PwC, pto hurts utilization
Based on 45 hours a week. Deloitte has 5 weeks of PTO, so 47 weeks left. There are 8 holidays. 45 x 47 - 8 x 9 = 2043. 2043 / 2080 = 98%.
@ACN1, really?! Why the fuck do I have 120+ hours of PTO...hello Bahamas 😎
@ACN2 use it up! The only hard part is getting anything approved by your project. I have 280 hours right now so I'm taking an entire month off when this project is done!
176 hours
Or maybe 179
Just looked - it's 176 :)
It's all factored in though. Always take your vacation.
M1, it's easy from a SC/M and above level but analysts have a utilization target of 95. I wish we communicate that better or not ding people for taking PTO
I heard if you're never on the beach and take all your PTO, you'll still meet target of 95% utilization.
At KPMG, we have Utilization and then we have Adjusted Utilization, for this very reason. The latter is what's used for performance reviews.
I always take all my PTO and util has been fine by year end.
How much PTO do you get at Deloitte?
25 days a year or earn about 1 day every 2 weeks/pay period
