Does USA jobs site actually work for getting a job? The posts on here are making it seems like getting one of the jobs posted is a lost cause without an internal referral.

Usajobs is very often the only way to get a federal job. I got one from there twice; zero internal references.

Yes, as noted it is often the only way to get a federal job. You may need to apply broadly but after sending out about a dozen apps, I had a handful of interviews and offers from two different agencies. Solely through USAJobs. It can just take a while.

Personally, I didn’t have much success with USAjobs. I got my job via direct hire thanks to networking. A large % of my colleagues were referrals too.

That’s how I got my job, and it was relatively quick after the interview. It can take a while, though.

I’ve gotten two jobs at different agencies through USAJobs. And I interviewed with two other agencies (no offer). I don’t use submit the same resume. I edit my resume for every position and upload as I apply. It takes forever but it’s worked

Had my virtual on-site for an S&O L3 role 3.5 weeks ago (NYC, 5 YOE). I haven’t heard back on a decision yet, and was wondering how long it typically takes? I also know that I was one of the very first candidates to interview for this specific role, and there are atleast 2 more people scheduled for onsites. Does the recruiter typically wait for all candidates to finish their onsites before communicating a decision? Or if I haven’t heard back yet, it’s probably a reject?

I have an interview coming up with Church & Dwight. When the recruiter emailed me with 3 interview times I thought he was asking me what time works best. Turns out he was telling me I was scheduled for 3 different interviews for 3 different teams in one day. Has anyone heard of a company doing that or gone through this for an interview? It seems odd to me

Who knew interviews are a whole different process on its own. Very exhausting, answering lots of questions and thinking. I’m completely done with 2022 interviews. These interviews are just mhmmmm.

Doing 2nd of 3 interviews on Tuesday and looking for interview tips. I learned very quickly that I don't understand how the levels and total comp packages work. I'm interviewing for a Business Operations Specialist and when looking at salary ranges they are all over the place. Add in the changes a few months back and I now have NO idea where I should fall.
I have 10 YOE and I am in Seattle..
Anybody have an idea of what level this role may fall into and what sort of BP and TC to consider?

Hello, I recently was reached out to by an in-house recruiter at a similar but slightly different company than the one I currently work for. The recruiter provided a base range and an OTE range. The lower end of that range is what I am currently making. The higher end of that range is almost 200k more than my current comp. The role is almost identical. I wasn’t looking to move, but that higher end range would set my family up very nicely for our goals. But I am happy at my current company. Help?
