‘Better’ is the key word.
I’ve been at 3 mid tiers and can probably count on both hands the number of Sundays I’ve worked over 8 years.
Lol, during busy season, of course
100% agree. In the early 2000s there was a difference but now that everyone is understafffed, there's no reprieve in the smaller firms. If you're gonna work a million hours you might as well get paid a big 4 salary. But industry is the best answer.
I moved to a middle market firm and I haven't worked on weekends. I only worked some days until 10 pm because we were working on a 10k and other stuff the company was dealing with.
that makes one of us…
Entirepy depends where you exit to as well, my first place out was so much worse
Yes/no, depends on teams and client. You usually have a good idea if an engagement is going to be a lot of work going in, and you can get out of it the next year. I'm doing pretty well rn, only working 40-45 hrs lol. (busy season is different but not too bad at MA). Will it ever be 30hrs/wk? No, but if that's what you want, def jump ship out of PA.
i see no lies…
I hope this quiet quitting (realistically, being underpaid to go above and beyond) hits critical mass now that people can barely afford to stay alive.
