Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. As a rule, you will be in a better position if you’re part of the company doing the acquisition rather than being acquired. That being said, give it your all, show the new company why they should keep you, and of course demonstrate value regardless of which side you are coming from.
Thanks. I’ve read it can work either way. Some teams at the acquired firm can be better suited than the buyer. Others have an interview process to give everyone a chance.
I once worked for a company that was acquired and it was an interesting experience. Before long a lot of people were laid off, as their roles would be redundant with people at the acquiring company. The team I was on managed to hang on for a long time, more than two years, but we were always anxious about layoffs. Acquisitions can work out well for some people, but it all depends on a lot of factors.

Just do your best and be as invaluable as possible. If there are layoffs or redundancies, try not to be one of them. That's all you really can do in this situation.
If there are layoffs, the employee doesn’t control whether they’re kept or let go.

I have been through this twice. Once when my company acquired another, and then my company was the one who was acquired. We also had downsizing, internal restructuring, covid office closures. This is over a 35-year career. The first time I actually had to reapply for my job and be interviewed by the people I already worked for. Ridiculous. I agree with just staying the course and waiting it out while doing your job to the best of your ability. I'm still with the company all these years later
