Everyone’s shitting on EY right now, but does anyone else think there’s a good chance the rest of the big 4 will follow suit on unlimited PTO?

Big 4, like most businesses, is a race to the bottom wrt treating your employees and prioritizing your bottom line. I expect the others to follow suit soon enough. It's easy enough for them to spin it as being more flexible (it's not) and they'll throw a bunch of meaningless buzzwords in there to try and justify it.

RSM switched to that this summer but whatever balance you have at 12/31 will freeze and get paid out upon termination. The only bummer is that you stopped accruing when the policy went into effect - which was July I think. So you had to use down your balance before you truly got “unlimited”

likesmart

Top that with newly promoted seniors getting their banked PTO frozen on 8/1 but non-promoted seniors having to wait until 12/31...

Yep. It's definitely coming...

Yup. Most of the public companies have already resorted to that.

Definitely coming. :)

Has any HR policy at a B4 ever stayed at the company that started it?

We are shitting on EY because they pulled the trigger, which makes it okay for the rest to follow suit

I think people are shitting on EY due to the derogatory email that got leaked

like

Of course. Not only do the firms copy each other, their upper upper mgmt also meet frequently to discuss the industry and trends.

Why do you think Kpmg got to wear jeans a year or 2 ago? Because our competitors were doing it.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

Found a random engagement ring.

Hi all, so I found a platinum ring (which I assumed it's an engagement ring as it has dates and initials engraved on top.) And a Divvy tag (I have no idea what it was until I googled it. Apparently it's a bike sharing service in Chicago) in a briefcase I ordered online. I was thinking of returning the item back to the store but that wouldn't help the person who lost the ring. Attached is a picture of them.

What should I do now?

**I'm not in Chicago

I have a townhome I want to rent out and wanted to see if there would be any interest here for a furnished townhouse (just main things like bedframes, sofa, dining table, bar stools etc). Most property managers are saying people wouldn't go for furnished, but I think it might be helpful for someone who doesn't want to move stuff or buy stuff. Wanted to get opinions from this bowl as the property is in Denver - thoughts? It's a 3 bed, 2.5 bath in a nice neighborhood.
