I feel like I’ve lost myself since joining McK. My whole world has become about work. I love my job but I’m not the same person I started and I feel I don’t connect with my friends and family the way I use to. I’m not sure if I’ve grown, or lost a part of myself. I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. I have been offered a position at a non-US B4 with a 2 year path to partner. I know one of the partners at the local firm and have the support of the regional service line lead, and am bringing a specialized skill set they are trying to open a new business around. The KPIs seem achievable and I’ll be in charm school to help build support within that timeline. Most of me thinks a 2 year path under these circumstances realistic but my inner skeptic is jaded. Anything I might have missed?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

I join tcs by changing my profile and my previous exp was in 5 yr pre-sales.
I am giving my best in work but still escalations are raised against me by client.

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.
