Ex big4 told me that the best talent leave, bottom gets fired and the middle performers make partner or stay. He's now CFO at a start up. Not amazing but definitely better off than me

I don't agree on the Advisory side. Many of the Partners either were very high up in industry and transferred in or could easily go the other direction. There are definitely many smart people who leave, but the mediocre ones don't "survive" to the top.

Truth.

It's very true. Even bottoms end up better than those who stay

That is spot on and really true on the assurance side, holy shit if you can stomach the torture for 15 years you will be awarded

He left shortly after making manager

Hard^^

True. That friend was on the assurance side.

Most of the partners at PwC advisory came from assurance, what are you talking about

I predict that for the future Workday will have a difficult time deploying for small and medium enterprise customers at lower price points. Most of the firms that did these types of deployments only made money towards the tail end through more lucrative support contracts but take a look at how many of them sold themselves in recent months or had layoffs (CS, Sierra-Cedar, Alchemy).

Feeling super anxious about a position I interviewed for last week. They seemed excited about me before this second round, but I'm second guessing myself and feeling down because they're taking a while to get back to me. I'm feeling very negative. It's been so difficult trying to find a position during this time and I feel like I have no purpose and am always unappreciated, especially after having been laid off.

I work in tax and with TCJA and CARES (extra work) and not enough resources (not hiring, people were still quitting, and layoffs). Also with blurred lines of work/home since covid, I’m at my computer from wake up to bed time, usually midnight. I have always had stress, but that has recently escalated to full blown anxiety. Do you guys think things will level out or will the firms try to keep taking advantage of everyone’s increased utilization?

Firm recently paid out 4% bonus to every employee at end of fiscal year as a profit share bonus. This was after raises given in early Fall of 3%-8% range. A tax senior’s response to me was that after all that work last year the 4% fell small and seemed like firm was greedy holding back remaining profit from expense savings and layoffs. My response was silence at first as I mentally went over the three values I hope to exhibit in leadership (honesty, empathy, humility), next I....

Do any of the companies out there (Salesforce implementation) maintain a schedule similar to pre-pandemic where Fridays are generally pretty light/internal stuff? Ever since all went full remote, Friday is just another 12-14 hr day and I'm super-burned out and have little time to do hands-on stuff or keep up with career development tasks. I don't mind the Mon-Thur grind of 12-14 hr days even without the travel down time, but 40+ hrs of client meetings before I do anything else is a soul suck.
