To give you a real answer, it’s a lot more uncertainty than the “dedicated” consulting roles. Billability expectations are different and you are expected to be a thought leader in your space which means research and content production.
I haven’t really seen the second class citizen thing at all. It’s the same casework, you just aren’t typically involved end-to-end
How does the different billability target and research/content translate to uncertainty?
I’ll ask same question as above - I’m likely to join as an expert consultant in an industry I love. I have an other-MBB generalist background and some industry experience. I’ve really been impressed by the partners I’ve talked to. Is this a bad decision?
Other thought that occurs to me is to do C/PL as an expert but consider moving to generalist after that
(Thanks for the helpful answer btw.)
I had an offer for an expert track and the only difference at the junior levels was the staffing. Pay and benefits were the same. I was told that the pay starts to make a difference at Manager/Principal level
I liked the people at Kearney and wanted to be a bit more generalist.

Being a second class citizen to the glorious generalists with divine PowerPoints
Rising Star
Not a fool but realize that the path to partner maybe difficult
