Don’t do it, ex Deloitte. It is in there best self interest to low ball you
*their
Deloitte tries to do that to every experienced hire
Why would you want to join in that case? Looks like you’re out of luck.
Wanna come to PWC instead? DM me for a referral
Don't take this. At all. Don't even give it another thought.
Walk away. PwC did this to me and I told em thanks but no thanks (respectfully). The next day I got a call from the recruiter that they could do SC. YMMV of course, but if they want you they’ll budge. If not, you’ve got no reason to feel bad about walking then.
Happened to me but they paid me an SC Salary. I would say negotiate on the salary if it’s not too late.
GPS C is around 93 average
GPS SC is around 110 average
Commercial C is around 110 average
Commercial SC is around 140 average
But for 8 years you should be a SC as long as it’s relevant experience
Walk away!
When you see the kind of inexperienced SCs you would be reporting to (the ones that are MBA hires) after you join as an experienced hire C, you'll regret your decision every single day. I know 3-4 colleagues who left for the exact same reason in less than 2 years after joining.
I myself came in 2 years ago as an experienced hire C for 120k base with 5.5 YOE. Hope that provides some benchmark. Commercial Consulting btw
About to make SC. Should know in a week or so
Started with 110 + 10 sign on. Ended with 120 + 3 sign on.
NEVER take a pay cut if you don’t have to. Tell them to pound sand
Hell yeah
Deloitte will always attempt to hire you a level down. Pay is somewhat flexible usually but I know managers elsewhere get C offers at Deloitte.
Don’t do it. Similar thing happened to me... stand your ground or say goodbye.
How many years of consulting experience do you have? Nevertheless, with 8 years of experience, you should be definitely be targeting for Manager if your background has been in consulting and SC if industry. This is an absolute exploitation. Please do not budge. Good luck with the negotiations !
I was leveled down to SC and regret taking the offer. After 8 YOE will you be able to handle being a grunt and taking direction from those that are younger, less experienced, and in many cases less qualified than you are? Add the loss of comp, and I'd run.
I was a recent promote at my old firm (to manager). I took an SC role with Deloitte but got a bump in pay. OP, I would push them on the base. Deloitte notoriously levels down but in no way should you be taking a decrease in comp.
