Extended family (live in the same neighborhood) wont stop "popping by" like once a week. They do not take COVID seriously and on top of that, they recently started sending their kids to school in-person. Parents get defensive with me and fall under the pressure of actually letting them inside the house (not garage or backyard) so that they dont offend the relatives. The relatives wear masks but they start getting lax (take it off or keep their nose exposed)...cont.

Why don’t you confront these “extended family members “ and say “dude & dudettes, you gotta wear mask all the time and get your feet off the pedal on these random visits or fuck off”?

funny

My sympathies. Desi families can be very adamant. If you haven’t already, try fear mongering - examples of people you know you contracted COVID and are suffering long term, WhatsApp forwards, etc. It seems to work to some extent with that generation. Take care.

Parents are stubborn to not wear masks so they dont come off as "rude". I've explained to my parents numerous times to follow the correct way of meeting family as these cases are rising. Im especially scared since this extended family constantly meets and mixes with other extended family. It just goes in one ear and out the other. And they keep repeating, "God will be by our side, just do prayers". like whatttt??? I am religious but we were born with a brain that God wants us to utilize. not blindly say religious words, close our eyes and ears and hope all bad things go away. Im getting very frustrated and fear that if this continues, we're bound to contract the virus. From there, its pretty much a gamble on how your body reacts on the scale of " i dont feel sick" to "well shit, this is how im gonna go down?" Dont know what to do :/

Call these relatives and ask them to please not to come over. My parents do not live with me but I had to call my mom’s sisters and have this conversation so they’d stop meeting up with my parents. People got sad and upset but all this does not matter during a global pandemic

Husband told me the other week he had the first business trip scheduled that he would fly to. I don’t understand why that can’t be done virtually, given the last 1.5 years, but he seems to be set on the fact that he’s “expected” to travel for work and is booking the tickets. We both are vaccinated but have two very young children who aren’t. It’s not even Covid that’s at the top of my mind but rather the pointlessness of resuming business travel. Am I overreacting?

Need in-law advice. We’ve been very careful with COVID. Our children are too young to be vaccinated. We are visiting parents-in-law (elderly, vaccinated) and sister-in-law (her and her husband vaccinated, two small kids aren’t but they arrived early and are past incubation period). This is an isolated lake house. Turns out this whole other family is staying in the house. We weren’t informed. They are not vaccinated yet all are eligible. One, a camp counselor, is now ill w/ fever, cough, etc.
