All those years of under-bidding on audits coming back to bite them.
Disagree. Maybe in the first year you can underbid, but once you build a relationship it shouldn't mean every audit is underpriced. Our partners need to learn how to negotiate in addition to how to build relationships (at least, at my firm). If a partner I worked with charged $500 extra for every engagement he has, that would be an extra full time senior salary at least!
Truly, no one knows. Leadership is radio silent.
EY6, so they told you it’s due to performance? Which business line?
They learnt from PwC that did exact same thing 2 months ago, “no layoffs, I promise you” on national calls for months, and than you suddenly become the underperformer after years of being high performer and never got average rating, ever! Always high ratings. Stay strong EY peers who got impacted, this is definitely not easy to digest. Looks like so far Deloitte handled this pandemic the best, laid people off due to economy and being honest with its employees upfront, instead of blaming on “performance”, and impacting people’s mental health that is already impacted due to other factors during the pandemic.

EY needs to be called out on lying to public about terms. Promote 73 new partners then secretly lay off stating it’s for performance issues.
What does promoting people to partner have to do with layoffs?
It’s true, not sure on the numbers. Across US at all levels. It’s sad the way they did it though giving people 1 day notice!
A few weeks ago EY was dropping hits on DT for layoffs.
