I have a salary range in mind for a new role based on online research and target increase from my comp now. But my research shows the data points are for salaries in HCOL areas. Do I need to adjust what I ask for if it’s a remote role and I’m not in HCOL city? Don’t want to overshoot and lose a great opportunity.

How to break into PE deal team (Credit or LBO)? I’m currently working at a $40+ bn PE but in the performance group. My day to day is mostly monitoring investments directly with deal team MDs and also preparing fundraising materials. I know how to do company valuations (DCF, comps, etc.) always been passionate about investing so that would be my ideal move. Current comp is $120k+. Willing to do an MBA.

I’ve been interviewing for Director of Product Marketing roles at late stage startups in hyper growth mode. In my last 2 hiring manager interviews, they’ve not asked me any questions outside of having me share a bit about myself. I was in the earlier days of a FAANG company, so perhaps there’s an assumption they already know how I’d build/lead a team or execute. Both have wanted to offer the time for me to ask them questions with little questions in return. Is this expected or lack of prep?

I'm a Microsoft Dynamics and C# Developer at a Big 4 consulting firm. But... working with Dynamics for the last 5 or 6 years is starting to wear on me. The salary is great because there is a shortage of qualified Dynamics developers, but I want to do something else, even if that's just back to being a run of the mill C# Developer. Maybe this is more of a rant or I'm letting off steam, but has anybody on here ever essentially gone from a specialized type of roll to more general role?

I don't have anyone else who gets this, but I hit my personal goal this year in almost every category; revenue, income, AUM growth, etc. Our fiscal year ends in October and I ended the year with a bang. Just super excited and I hope everyone else knows, this business is worth it when you put in the time and effort! Edit: also passed CFP in March!

Expecting our first in about 6-8 weeks. Both my wife and I work at places with strong parental leave policies. We are considering staggering our leaves (I’d take a couple weeks right when the baby is born, then go back to work until her leave runs out, then go out) to save $$ on child care. Would also have a bit of family help during the first 4-6 weeks as well. Any experienced dads think this is a bad idea?

In the interview process for a FAANG. It’s been almost 2 months, and I’ve been through four interviews. Still waiting on final decision. Does that seem like a long time frame?
So, a new associate recently joined our team. We are still WFH. I’ve tried to be friendly with the associate but somehow not getting traction. Any suggestions? I’m the only one that initiates any kind of interaction online too. What’s the norm here? I would expect an associate to reach out more, but they only reach out to tell me to do work, which is fine too, just used to working with more social associates in the past.
