Hi all, recently a recruiter from Amazon reached out for an SDE 2(2+ years of exp. required) role and I'm a recent CS grad. I gave the OA (which was extremely difficult w/ 99% cut-off) and other tasks related to the OA. A few hours back, I got a call from the recruiter that I had cleared the assessment and tasks and said that they are looking for 2+ years of exp. I said I'm open to the SDE1 role and said she'll ask her colleagues. Idk what to expect now š„ Amazon Amazon India

I am on notice period with Tata Consultancy with 2 months remaining with an offer in hand where the joining date is just after notice period ends. Now, I got early release from current company and thus, I saved 2 months. But I want to use these 2 months for travelling, upskilling and looking for better offers instead of contacting the new company for early joining. So, if I join the new company after 2 months will this be considered as a 'gap' in my profile in the future and will it be harmful?

Thanks all! I found a fancy coffee shop in a really nice part of town, called them and they said they have business meetings take place there all the time and the barista would save a table for me if I told him what slot I was looking for. Going to go with suit, no tie. Thanks for all your help!
Iād hire you just for that due diligence. Best of luck!
Things happen, itās a bit unusual but i wouldnāt get too hung up on it. Iād take it as a good sign. Means youāve cleared all the gates, partner just wants to make sure youāre not an idiot with 3 arms.
I would look for a larger lunch spot like a First Watch, McCormickās Deli, etc and propose a lunch meet. That way you can grab a table away from as much hubbub as possible.
Coffee shops can be hit or miss based upon their size.
Panera bread is a good option as well.
Since the Partner is WFH, Iād say biz casual is safe. Safest would be blazer and slacks.
Iād wear a tie (unless youāre in tech). Basically, just demo how youād turn up to a Client meeting.
Yep, Iād roll with the tie too even in tech. Iāve never once thought, damn this guy is dressed too nice. I donāt want him on my team. However, Iāve thought that someone doesnāt really care about this job, a number of times based on dress.. people are judgy man..
I would not go to a park. Too loud/crowded/informal. If coffee place is crowded, the lobby at a nearby hotel is probably your best bet. As a point of reference on location selection, think: āwhere would I go to study for an examā not āwhere would I go to catch up with an old friendā
Dress up.
Another option is grab coffee then go to a nearby park in case the Starbucks is crowded.
Good luck - I donāt understand why the recruiter would ask you to choose a spot if thatās where the partner lives
1) yes coffee place.
2) suit no tie
Not saying thatās the only correct route but the above is what iād do in your position. I agree that the approach theyāve taken is slightly weird (they couldāve at least picked the place for you) but seems like now time to just go with the flow and make it happen
Caveat on 2 (suit no tie) if they wear ties in the office wear one to the interview .
Suggest meeting at their house. Bring a bottle of whisky. Get the job
Meet somewhere near where he lives and recruiter asked me to choose a place.
1) where do I suggest we meet? Like a coffee place? Starbucks?
2) do I dress up and wear suit/tie for this?
Seems a bit odd to be honest.
Only do Starbucks if itās not a super busy one/time. Otherwise pick a lesser known coffee shop. If you do get there super early so you can make sure to get a good seat for both of you. Otherwise itāll get real awkward. Definitely still wear a suit. He may not be, but heās not interviewing. Oh and knockāem dead! Good luck man!!
