Thread for companies hiring:
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

Anyone Boston next week?

Is this a "family office" or "truth-telling firm" in Connecticut?
So roles under the COO are considered middle office and back office - so definitely difficult. Lot of the work is minimizing cost in operations, reducing technology overhead and scoping the investment in people and infrastructure.
Throw me a bone here too pwc😒 what sort of roles do hedge funds usually prefer ?
If it's the hedge fund I'm thinking of, you should learn a little bit about their culture first before getting too excited about the pay bump...
Yeah if it's the one with the "principles" I would really think hard about if it's worth it.
What kinds of exit opps do these roles present? How is growth & salary from LT perspective? And also importantly, if I wanted to come back into consulting - would this experience make it helpful for me to come back? I'm doing TS now, could this make transitioning to strategy easier?
Pretty sure I got the same email.
If it is for the same company I'd take it. Well known and respected fund and the exposure you will get is incredible.
Go for it
@EY1 - haha idk, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth being interested in. Just because it is at a hedge fund doesn't mean it's a good role ya know?
@Manager1- can you elaborate? What are the chances it's the same lol
@Pwc1- haha. Nope. It's not.
I am looking for a change and so confused what to look for 😅
Can someone elaborate a little bit about these kinds of roles? What types of projects do you typically work on? What is growth like for exit opps, salary and moving around to other parts of a HF? Is this considers operations? Anything would be helpful
Is it doable to transition from this role to more front office finance?
I know a guy who took this job from consulting, he won't admit it but I feel like there is a lot of regret there. Middle office for a few years and having to commute is meaningfully painful. You mind as well have a real candid conversation with them about your questions and concerns - if they are true to their name, I'm sure they will appreciate it
I guess the thought I have is exit opps from that role. It's definitely middle office work, but it's basically the same work MC's do now but for multiple clients. The thought I have is, why not take the salary bump for 2 years before B-school and this will help making the transition to strategy consulting easier?
