“Can’t you just work more” -whomst MD

For my pcos ladies on metformin, interesting news article. Be careful out there. The good news I hear is that metformin leaves the body pretty quickly so in 2 days you won't have it in you anymore. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/victoriaforster/2020/04/05/researchers-warn-that-covid-19-treatment-t

Do what’s best for you and your mental/physical health. Unsustainable workloads have a way of beating you down. It can turn you off from consulting altogether, so it’s for the best if you find an alternative project
Long nights / weekend work are because your manager / director either didn’t push back, they don’t know how to say no, or you are doing work outside of your sow
Ask career counselor for help rolling. Recognize that rating will take a hit
My last project with the firm both the SM and P just worked most weekends and 14-16 hours / day. It was miserable. I’d try to get in front of it by planning, story boarding, trying to build early alignment with the team and then project leaders on the deliverables but they just worked in a style that was constantly burn and turn. While I made it to the end, me and my team were completely burned out by the end of the 16 week project that also had us traveling to Mexico a good bit.
My advice is to make it to the end of the project if possible and then politely decline any extension work. Take two weeks off to recharge then go work for partners and SM’s that are better for you
I say this half-jokingly (because it never helps) but there always 1-800-DELOITTE :). You can go after them hard for “Bill what you work, work what you bill.” Honestly though. If you do that you can partly use it to justify a drop in rating or a missed snapshot. It’s a shitty position with no good options either way.
I’m not totally convinced as the project shows no signs of slowing down. How should I proceed?
In the same situation right now. Less burnt by the work but by how bad the management is, taking one up the ass by the client at every single turn, overpromising, etc.
I feel that this projects staffing model was completely done wrong considering how many parallel activities are in the pipeline. The leadership wanted to have more staff in India vs US, which makes sense for budget, however it’s at the cost of well being of all US staff.
I’ve been on the project for 10 months already. This is a multi year project which is why if I can’t get out now, I’ll never have an opportunity to leave.
And no, I don’t have a project lined up but I’m confident I can find something else that’s better balanced. If not, then this career is not for me.
Agree with D2. The consulting leadership takes the hours charging more seriously and some of the older M/SM/PPMDs are still stuck on how it 'used to be' as they came up. If you have been charging your real hours, then you need to have conversations with your CC and start engaging your RM as well to help. If you have mentors, consult with them as well.
Do you have another potential project lined up?
Have you talked to the PPMD? Your manager maybe trying to hide it from them
