Feeling super conflicted. Employer massively retaliated against me for health issues and medical leave, downgrading my rating for the year due to one month of poor health and blocking a promotion. I have lawyers begging to take my case and do it on contingency, saying I will likely get around a ~$200K settlement without ever having to actually file a lawsuit because of all the clear evidence. However, I like my boss and company and am feeling extremely guilty about taking legal action, WWYD?

My current title is Buyer. I handle the purchasing of the larger categories of direct materials and train any new Buyers. I also manage outsourcing and quoting of raw materials for new business, among other things.

I have been struggling with a “pu’u pu’u platter of addictions” (thank you for the phrase Brene Brown) for much of my life and have managed to work a program for the past five years. My problem is my family of origin. My dad is an alcoholic and my brother - if he isn’t already - is well on his way. Their attitudes are so unhealthy and I am struggling to break patterns. my sister died this morning. I posted about her in a past post. Alcohol addiction, liver failure and then it taxed the kidneys too much, she went into cardiac arrest at 9 am and they could not save her. She was 51. Sad day for sure. Feels odd that she is no longer here. I just wish she could have had a better future.
