What's the point of having money if you never use it? Travel is of the best things that you should plan for.
Collectively, when retirees are interviewed, their main regret is not traveling more when they were younger. When you die, you don't take your money with you. I can't think of a better way to spend your money than making quality memories with your family and taking breaks from working to do what you enjoy. You can't buy back time or your health.
This seems like a math problem that I choose not to do.

We can’t ignore it forever
It's worth whatever financial hit I take. Travel is one of the most important things in my life and has made me who I am.

It reduces value by the amount I spend on travel.
I handle it by traveling reasonably economically and factoring the expense into my planning.

I’d argue it could be both… consider… spending money on travel is money that does not get invested, and depending on the annual spend, that can translate to a substantial sum of future dollars in 10, 20, 30+ years… but, a common life principle is people like people who are like them; so if that travel results in shared experiences that can be a driving force behind your financial and career growth then its kind of the best of both worlds…
My travel expenses are tax deductible so it's income for me yeah
