Getting there 30 minutes ahead of time to prep for a client workshop is totally reasonable. OP, ignore D1. He's probably never facilitated a client workshop before.
Since when is getting to a 30 minutes before a worship/meeting to help set up a room unreasonable? And he was late enough that the session had already started and the clients were already seated.
While I agree that the analyst didn't perform as well as he/she should have, your expectations are incredibly unreasonable. Get there 30 minutes before sessions? Are you kidding? Are we in elementary school where we can't be trusted to get somewhere on time?
Good you offered coaching, it up to him to take it. Luckily many people offered me coaching when I started out since this a completely new field to me, including what time to leave and what was expected. I took the feedback and just was promoted.
And what happened.
He is just in the wrong field. He will probably be outstanding in something else. In industry I had a guy who could not seem to understand basic accounting principles and he was an accountant! Turns out, he went into accounting to please his dad and really wanted to be an artist. He was a terrible accountant and an outstanding artist. Now has gallery shows and art brings in big dollars.
If this is a workshop, then 30 minutes is absolutely acceptable. The way you worded it "30 minutes before sessions" made it sound like you meant all meetings.
It's odd that he would not pay attention to the feedback even if it just out of self preservation. Probably needs to be in another field.
1. Get there 30 mins before sessions 2. He needed to provide the documents with specific wording and why i.e. Gender neutral, use of declarative and consistent phrases 3. It's important that he sit across from me during the meeting so I can let home know what was/wasn't important to document - and then he proceeded to do none of it. I didn't say anything but lead is very unhappy with his quality of work. I'm gone though so not my problem as of 5 pm today. :)
I did correct everything and finished the work analyst didn't even though I had to stay up until 3 am last night. Didn't want project lead to be left hanging after I'm gone.

Acc1: He's great in person. Seemed to understand and seemed eager to learn/take direction. But he can't seem to deliver and doesn't ask for direction or help.
