Figured out I'm getting laid off at Dell next week. What're some good companies to apply for with similar benefits, possibly remote or hybrid roles, and decent pay? Decent WLB and culture like Dell used to have is a plus. Lay off was no fault of my own and have my manager as a reference to prove it if that matters.

Honestly you need to spray and pray. Most remote jobs get 100+ applications in a matter of hours. You really need to have a good resume, apply as soon after it gets posted as possible, and work multiple angles (referrals, connect with the hiring manager, comment on LinkedIn posts so you’re prominent, etc…)

Probably THOUSANDS at this point... or at least that's EXACTLY how it feels! SMH

The best thing you can do now is to figure out what you liked about the other job and what you dislike. Then, search for options.. This sounds pretty good. I am guessing Dell's competitors would be a great option, or even smaller companies on a higher level would be great too.

I'm looking into competitors and resellers currently. Resellers seem to love ex Dell employees for obvious reasons so that may be the easiest option. I was getting very good money for my age and experience at Dell though, I'm not sure a reseller will give me that.

The screening process with 100's of candidates flooding the job opportunity. Your best bet is to connect with others you have worked with who have moved on. The best advise I was given in my career was that "Its's not what you know, it is who you know that know what you know". Don't hesitate to reach out to those in your circle of influence, and schedule an informal meeting next week to discuss what opportunities they see given the changing business environment. Most people are willing to share their opinions over a cup of coffee, in an informal environment. It is always managers I worked with that provided the fast track thru the HR screening process.

I'd like to stay in Tech. Trying to at least maintain my salary, roughly $110k with at least some WFH. I'd sacrifice some money for remote.

What’s yor present role?

I see,

Yeah heard about the Dell layoffs seems like every big company is slimming down. Good luck with your search.

Apply to every job that's like yours. If you have connections, then use them. If there's a close competitor that people jump back and forth with, then apply there. The job market's not great right now. Unless you have enough non-retirement money saved to live on for several years without a paycheck, you're not in a position to be picky.

What if in case I have LTA bill which is exceeding x amount itself, do I need to raise reimbursement request every month th with same bill?

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

Going on a parental leave in a month. Anyone know of any remote, freelance/part time I can do to still make money on the side? Out side of Uber/Lyft etc

Why would you ever want to rollover your 401K into an IRA? It seems like doing so would essentially prevent you from successfully being able to do a IRA to Backdoor Roth IRA conversion due to the pro-rata rule. Am I missing something? Some Business Intelligence/Analyst roles are very data heavy. I wonder why these roles do not have the term “data” in them, and wonder if it’s to keep the salary lower than it should be. So, I just fired my first employee as a manager and I'm heartbroken. He was a great, great person but after 6 months on a PIP he just wasn't cutting it skills-wise. I know he was the provider of the household and his wife didn't have a job since she was raising three young ones. Needless to say, I had to take off because I felt terrible, sick to my stomach. How do you deal with firing guilt? Is that a thing? I can't help but feeling like I did something wrong.
