10 weeks for whatever partner you are, same for adoption. Can be taken in 2 splits each has to be at least 1 full week, but 10 weeks at once is ok too. Most importantly it is strongly encouraged to take it all! My kid was very late from his due date and I didn’t go on leave until the day of his birth. My Executive Advisor told me to extend my 2nd spilt by the extra days from the first part.

12 weeks for either parent. Works well for me as the dad, but my wife's job doesn't give her anything but short term disability.

1 tote bag, a pack of diapers and a bottle of bottom shelf whiskey.

16 weeks for dad, can add pto on top. I’m finishing up mine this month and will have taken 20 weeks each time for my two kids.

About to join McK and it’s 8 weeks for non birth parent

2 weeks for my husband

Got it. Parental leave is 16 weeks. The rest (vacation/medical leave) isn't technically parental leave and is common at other places.

EY - 16 weeks plus option for three weeks of vacation added on. Taken within a year of birth, and doesn’t have to be all at once. (This is paternal/non-birthing parent)

+ 2 weeks prior to due date

Current firm is two weeks.

There are state laws that supercede these. See MA PFML: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/how-pfml-is-different-than-fmla

I’m glad states have started to put these in place but “Job protected” is very different from paid leave :/

Zero paternity leave under 12 months at Optum. UHG is the biggest healthcare company in the world and it’s zero under 12 months. 😡😡😡

Honestly, I had to take the job so I had no choice. All I am saying is that UHG is a behemoth in the industry. If an insider tells you this info, you should be “appalled” and name & shame. 😂 😂 😂

Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.

My ex wife with whom I share custody of my 14 year old daughter has a live-in boyfriend who recently lost his mother and has developed a drinking problem. For the second week in a row I’ve had to pick up my daughter from their apartment because they were fighting and screaming at each other. Last time (1:30 AM Friday morning) he had physically assaulted my ex wife and then threatened to kill himself. I thought surely my ex wife would have kicked him out at least and better yet gotten a contd.

Why is maternity leave, policy and other women's issues not important as compared to Juneteenth, coed bathrooms, and all the other issues in the media today? Women are half the population and at an average of 2.1 kids per woman, these are major issues. Are we not vocal enough? Organized enough? Not a serious voting demographic? Too grateful things are better in this generation? What is it? Why does 50% of the population matter less compared to these smaller marginal groups?

Thoughts - my kid got selected in a gifted program and it’s 1.5 hour drive from our house. We also have a baby who goes to daycare near our house( 15 mins ). Is it worth to send my preschooler to the gifted program ? It’s only for 6 months and after that my baby would go to daycare near the preschool itself. I am just not sure whether a 1.5 commute in morning and evening is worth the school for 2’kids to go through and will reduce our family time everyday.

I never even considered but just left on maternity leave and don’t think I can see myself going back to biglaw or honestly any other corporate job. What’s the parental leave policy at your firm? Maternity vs paternity? Is two weeks paternity leave pretty standard?

What do you do with your free time over the weekend? I recently quit consulting to get a job with a standard schedule. I don’t have kid care or dating needs, tapped out on plants, home remodeling, drinking and eating out. Looking for other ways to make the weekends fun. Please share how you spend your weekends! 😀

Just had a call with a group of analysts with first names like Jackson, Lincoln, Dempsey, Hudson, Hunter, and Kennedy. If you're having kids soon, I hope you'll help make this the generation that stops giving their children last names as first names. No child deserves this.

My milk supply has dropped really rapidly in the last couple weeks and I can't figure out why. Please help! I was pumping 16-20 oz/day (baby refuses to nurse) and in the last two weeks it's been going lower and lower. Previously if I pumped every 6 hours, I would get 4-5 oz, but for the last week I've been getting 3-3.5, and just now I pumped 1.5 oz. I can't think of what could be the cause. I have a Spectra pump which I've used <300 hours (warranty is 1500). Baby is 6mos.Any thoughts or tips?
