Just be confident, but not cocky and most importantly, be knowledgable and be yourself. Good uck, I've been employed with JLL for 5 years now. Many opportunities to move up within the company.
Thank you so much!
Congratulations on obtaining an interview with JLL. While JLL is a direct competitor to my employer, I can share a few suggestions with you of what we look for in candidates we interview for property assistant and property manager positions.
1. For entry level positions in CRE, be willing to learn. During formalized onboarding and training, pay attention, take notes and do all that is offered to you.
During informal on the job training, pay attention, ask questions and take notes.
If you are starting your career, everyone else in the room has more knowledge and experience than you. Learn from coworkers.
During the interview, tell them about a time you had to learn a new skill or set of procedures and how you approached it.
2. Be willing to do any task assigned to you including the boring drudge tasks. If you are starting in CRE, you will have to spend time in the trenches to prove yourself. Do the data entry, filing, trash patrol, get lunch for the meeting, whatever is assigned to you. Doing so will demonstrate to your team and supervisor your work ethic. Actions speak louder than words.
3. Be open to feedback and criticism. In the workplace, you don't get participation medals. You work, you make errors, someone tells you about your mistakes, you process what they said, and you apply that newly gain lesson to improve your performance. It is important to be able to learn and apply feedback and constructive criticism in order to advance in any career.
Good luck with your interview!
Amazing advice! Thank you so much!
Congratulations on securing your first-round interview with JLL as a property associate! Here are some tips to help you prepare and make a great impression:
1. Understand the Role: Research the responsibilities of a property associate and how they fit within the commercial real estate (CRE) industry. This will help you articulate how your skills and experiences align with the job.
2. Know the Company: Familiarize yourself with JLL’s history, services, and market position. Understanding their business model and recent projects can provide valuable talking points.
3. Review Common Interview Questions: Prepare for questions related to managing complex projects, problem-solving, and teamwork1. Reflect on your past experiences that demonstrate these abilities.
4. Technical Knowledge: Brush up on key CRE concepts, such as net absorption rates and the impact of interest rates on property values2. Being able to discuss these topics will showcase your industry knowledge.
5. Prepare Questions: Have a list of thoughtful questions to ask the interviewer about the role, team, and company culture. This shows your genuine interest in the position.
6 Practice: Conduct mock interviews with friends or mentors to build confidence. Practice articulating your thoughts clearly and concisely.
7. Update Your Resume: Tailor your resume to highlight experiences and skills relevant to CRE, even if they’re from a different industry3.
8. Professional Attire: Dress appropriately for the interview to make a good first impression.
Remember, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn can be just as important as experience. Good luck with your interview, and I hope this is the start of a successful career in CRE for you
