Move dilemma:
Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

Yea, if you travel that much, it's worth it. Takes less than $10k to break even. That's typically less that 10 weeks of travel.
That Centurion Lounge access is awesome if it's convenient for you. The SFO one is great.
Get a Schwab platinum and roll over your corp Amex points for 1.25 cents each. The cash back adds up quick
I have a separate SPG Amex. Points are like crack.
How much do you get per year from if? (Ballpark dollar wise)
It all depends on how much you travel and where. I typically travel 45 or so week a year and spend approx $1200 -$1500 per week (though sometimes much more). So at low need that $55k per year. A 1cent per point, that's $550 a year, minus the fee. I think last year, coupled with personal spend on my own AMEX) I ended with about 100,000 points good for about $1,000 in gift cards etc.
Are you asking about upgrading the card (corporate card to corporate platinum) or are you asking about paying the $100 fee to activate membership rewards?
If the latter, you don't get the lounge access, but as has already been stated, the breakeven point is If you spend over $10k per year on travel. Points are valued at $.01 a piece, and you typically earn 1point per $ you spend. So if you plan on spending more than $10k per year, you will earn more value than the $100 activation fee.
Agree with SPG Amex. If you are traveling to Centurion Lounge airports, I see the value but the pts themselves don't go that far whereas using my SPG for hotel and everything that doesn't need a receipt, piles up the vacation points.
Hold on, anyone allowed using personal SPG credit card for business travel? How are you guys expensing it?
You have to show a receipt on hotels anyway and anything under 25 doesn't usually require a receipt. More expensive dinners, flights and rental car requires corp card but other than that, you can use your own. Its not policy but nothing will stop you.
