Why won’t they give you a corrected W2? Pretty sure they’re legally required to…

Your 2022 W2 is legally required to reflect the total income you earned from D in 2022, which it sounds like will be your total wages minus your bonus clawback.
Check out irs publication 525. There’s a section on repayment and how to handle fed taxes, social security taxes, and Medicare. Just went through this with a previous employer.
Thanks
Should just come in your refund when you do your taxes. If you do your taxes you will show that you have overpaid by a lot and they will return you that amount

Nothing “comes back to you” necessarily. That depends on your personal tax situation. But as long as the sum of 2021 and 2022 W2s adds up to what you actually made from D, then you’re fine.
I left a company awhile with similar situation. As you’re withholding tax at a higher income than what you’ll actually declare (as you’ve left the company) there may be some differences.
I had a $10k sign on bonus and when I was asked to cut a check back it was closer to $4k.
You should insist on an accurate W2 and follow up a few months after you leave to ensure you have final accurate payslips etc. (which you should keep the last few you get just in case. Easier to download when you still have the work email IMO)
Ahhh. Yes I only paid that amount as the rest had been withheld.
You may have to submit an updated 2021 tax return. Would suggest asking an accountant to if you need to update last year or adjust this year.
Just keep a record of what you can in case the W2 isn’t reflected appropriately.
Do note, Deloitte needs to adjust their records too for supplying the IRS the income tax withheld last year so there should be something. Can you ask someone in payroll instead of your HR contact?
If you’re within the 1 year clawback do you owe the Gross amount i.e. $10k or they just ask back for like $6k bc the IRS got the rest?
I’m in year 2 of the clawback. They are asking for the gross amount, which is why I’m wondering how do I get back the taxes I already paid
How long did you have to repay your bonus when you left?
Ahhhh I might be trapped then.
