Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Favorite office chair?
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.

Spouse (who is a lawyer) and 2 kids, so everyone was on zooms all day every day. I converted a dresser to a standing desk in our bedroom and it’s been great. We have 5 bedrooms and plenty of space, but people get very annoyed when you take calls in public areas.
I have a 1 bedroom and have mine in the living room. I like to keep my bedroom very sparse and peaceful, makes for a better sleeping experience.
At the beginning of WFH I had my desk in my room. I began taking naps on my lunch break and no longer wanted to do that. To remain productive, I moved the desk to an extra room to keep work and serenity separate. I have 3 bedrooms.

In house with main lvl plus a bsmt. 5 bedrooms total; 3 upstairs (all used) and 2 downstairs (guest rooms). The living room and kitchen upstairs are too small to fit in my desk. I have plenty of space downstairs but it’s too dark and depressing to remain there for 8+ hrs in the day. I also get better signal upstairs.
