Yes, it absolutely is possible. If you feel like you are not coping, I would seriously recommend you talk with a counselor. I would also recommend you take a hard look at whether you are well suited to your job, whether your relationships are contributing to your life in a positive way, etc.

Yes it is, but it’s not as interesting.

Using substances is a coping strategy. The world is experiencing a lot of awful things these days. There are other coping strategies that can and do help. Sometimes it’s just about finding the right ones for you. For me, working out and writing in a daily journal are helpful. So to answer your question, yes I think it is possible. I’m doing it! Some people do need to take medication for an extended period of time, though, and that’s okay too. Whatever works for you.
Yeah it’s possible but I like to use some drugs just for fun
Honestly, I don’t think you are wrong, I have had the same question for a while now. I do think that overall escapism is an issue. Even if it’s not substances it’s something: workaholism, consumed by sports, binging TV, or the ones you mentioned to be able to cope. I wonder if we could slow things down if everyone would need something like that still.
Depends what you mean by "modern life." If you mean living in a crowded, loud, expensive urban environment completely detached from nature and without meaningful ties to family, community or any faith system then no, I don't think such an existence is possible long term without some form of substance use or other escapism tendencies/addictions (gambling, sex, video games, etc).
But there are other ways to live. Listen to your body. If your day to day life is really soul crushing and you aren't suffering from depression or an illness that may be warping your perception, then make some changes!
The concept of substances has nothing to do with nature. And suburbs are not any more nature than the city; both are completely manufactured gardens. City living is life! Interacting with humans, watching them get on and off the subway, supporting your community and shoveling neighbor sidewalks. You can get nature in the city — plant trees, bike/walk the city bike paths, take hikes/trips to the water on weekends and book longer trips to national parks and mountains to really disconnect. A walk in the suburbs is the most dangerous of walks and they totally depend on cars which is the opposite of nature — they kill natures. In the city, you have lane for people, biking, trams/trains and then cars. Again, nothing to do with substance use / abuse.
It’s truly an undisclosed pandemic. So many professionals hate their jobs, executives, managers, and front line employees. New records of absenteeism / tardiness being recorded and many have no idea. Couple this with increased sales in OTC and Alcohol and we have what we have here. A world looking to escape as they have found the world and their jobs unfulfilling. Our world has been nothing but distractions and constant sedation from the real pain. Yes our society has been overly medicated of both legal and illegal substances. Until people find a real solution this will only get worse. People have been doing it the World’s Way… time for some spiritual introspection (Ie Jesus).

Yes, it is possible. I drink alcohol, but use no psychotropic drugs, nor do I generally consume caffeinated beverages. I don't NEED alcohol to cope with daily life.
Also, much of what you listed are not stimulants, so I assume you mean substances in general.
Move to Europe. People work way less.
Might want to check the difference between stimulants and depressants. Got your list a little mixed up there
I’ve had a stimulus check no one ever sent me one for barbiturates
No you gotta pray. None of that will fulfill you but just get you into more trouble.
Absolutely. Substances will only provide a false sense temporary relief, but your issues will be there when it wears off and only make your problems worse.
As someone that has been over the edge and back, trust me, life is a whole lot better and more manageable without any of that crap in your life. Just because it looks like the people around you have it handled doesn't mean they do.
Only one of those substances is a stimulant…
I BELIEVE, there will be a serious rise in some bad situations because there’s already enough craziness with the current generation as it is now, let’s take a bunch of people off medication that have been on it for 5 years 10, 20, even some people 30 years on these types of medication.
This medication is also highly addictive and will be leaving people feeling sick and experience withdrawal, and may send them in a route that they never imagined being in seeking help from other resources.
Wanting it everyday does not necessarily mean it warrants an existential crisis. I think the fact you are even asking is a good sign.
There is a balance. Every night indulging in the one of your choice, or indulging in a couple couple of these, might be ok for some if it is a small amount, it’s after work, and you know you can stop. All at the same time every day is a lot. Now you’re doing an Elvis and need uppers to get up and downers to get down and you have no control. And when you have to have it or the high is the end goal, or you are doing them during work, you could have a problem.
For some, even 1-2 drinks of alcohol could lead to serious consequences; for others, they could go for long stretches with 1-2 drinks a day depending on their sex but they don’t need it.
Adderal might be different in that it can be a prescription and required for some folks; whereas it would be a lot to take that every day when you don’t actually need it.

I’ve never been tempted to use substances…snd life is good! If you are feeling this way, please get a therapist and find out what makes you happy. There is a life out there for you that is fulfilling- promise!
Its possible, focus on your relationships with people around you. The purpose of life is to make others happy not the other way around. Detoxify yourself from any bad behavior or substance and your dopamine reward system will reward you for simpler things.
Of course it’s possible. I don’t do any of those things. But I also don’t have any mental health issues. If you have a legitimate issue that would benefit from medication then you shouldn’t feel shame about taking a medication. If you are taking things recreationally because everyone else is doing it then it’s only going to hurt you in the long run.
Therapy, self help books, self care tends to help. But I realize that’s easier said than done..
Not all of those are stimulants, in fact only one is
