Military leave reduces your denominator. So if you are working on an actual project it helps you out.
This is what I needed to hear. Thank you.
Technically it shouldn’t affect it because as the other poster mentioned it would reduce your denominator.
It is also illegal for them to discriminate against you based on reserve status, but good luck proving it. It definitely happens, and as you get more senior I understand why. Sometimes it’s like football where the best ability is availability. Each situation very much depends on the project, practice, firm, team, etc.
Thank you for sharing that honest assessment about this matter.

There’s the technical answer and the real answer. People have shared the technical answer, the real answer is that yes, many people do not understand and will hold it against you even if they won’t outright say that’s why. All they see is that you aren’t working on their engagement when everyone else is. That’s certainly not unique to Deloitte, the same was true for internships and random jobs I had in college.
I was only in the reserves for about 6 more months after I started and it was a hassle. I don’t think I could have juggled the reserves and a demanding job long term in all honesty- more power to those who do.
