Ehhh. I wouldn't if it doesn't feel natural. Nothing is worse than forcing your way to fit in. If it's a topic you have something funny or relevant to add, go for it. But I wouldn't go out of your way to try to be one of the guys.
That’s a good idea- I try and engage when relevant but I always overthink.
Be your self, .. DO NOT be someone else, .. sounds lie it may not be appropriate banter so ignore it or slap it down but do not participate in something you do not like pr approve of because that is your tuccid approval.
Yes, I do need to speak up if I don’t agree with what they say!
I am male and work in costuming. Most places I work I am typically the only male on staff. I know that in society we are taught certain social cues that sometimes pertain to gender... Butttt this isn't a family picnic, that the men go to one side to do their thing and the women go to another. Its work, I would just make friends with the people that it makes sense to be friends with. There are plenty of times at work that everyones talking about something I can't relate to. I might chime in or I might bring up a topic that I know they can't relate to... our differences are the spice of life. Good luck
That’s a really good point. I want to engage in their conversation but have no idea how to chime in, or I always miss a certain cue!
