Now even i think to work till 40 and save the best amount I could then retire and do something meaningful with my life.

Should I put $20K towards my student loan balance of $230K before the no-interest period ends or max out my 401k, which I have contributed nothing to this year. I’m 25. Employee matches 4%.

Seeing how 401k’s, ira’s etc..are mostly based in stocks. What happens if we have another Great Depression and the stock market crash’s. Even if you have Real estate investments, if ppl can’t pay rent like with Corona, that’s not really helpful. My company allows contributions to both traditional (pre-tax) and Roth (post-tax) 401k. Is it better to split my contributions between the two? For example, I could contribute 3% to Roth and 3% to traditional (my employer matches up to 6% total but that can only goes to traditional)

Hi there, I had a question about 401k or Roth IRA. Should I put money into anyone of the two as an international student? I don’t see the point because I want to invest my money instead of saving it. Plus I don’t even have a permanent resident status so I don’t know if it makes sense saving it for retirement. On the other hand, the employer match and so on sounds good. So should I save it and take it out later or just invest it?

What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. He has student loans and is adamant that he wants to pay all of them off immediately before saving any retirement money. I am expecting an offer from Master Card for Senior Software Engineer position in O Fallon MO. Please let me know what kind of base salary I can expect with 11 yrs experience . I don’t wanna undersell but also trying to avoid being aggressive but quote a decent number which will be achievable. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Is 125k $ base a fair value for or I can pitch higher? They have a 15 to 20 % bonus on top of base pay and a 10% match on 401k which the recruiter keep highlighting.

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview).
