What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

This is not a sarcastic question, I genuinely want to know, how do you use PTO as an attorney? Is your billable hour requirement for the month offset, or are you expected to make it up? How do you make sure your cases are all good and there won’t be any fires while you’re gone?

This is my first holiday season in Charlotte, is the tree lighting festival worth attending? Does anyone know what to expect?

Leave for vacation with 15-20 active transactional matters. Come back from vacation and at least 12 of those matters have ground to a halt. Anyone else concerned about a market slowdown? This is the slowest I’ve ever been in the 10 years I’ve been practicing.

Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

Coming to SD for vacation - first time! Where would you recommend someone stays? Things I’m into: food (specifically seafood), walks along the beach, markets/shopping (handmade, artsy stuff, boutiques, etc.).

How would you approach or handle getting a verbal offer for a new job that’s within the range you want but they want you to accept, reject, or counter immediately on the phone. I would like 24hrs to really look at offer, base pay, benefits, PTO etc but they said its company policy to give verbal offer first and I have to accept, reject or counter at that time… only if I accept verbally will they send written offer and full details…

I work at a small CPA firm & have worked there since I started as an intern. I’m curious about what everyone’s job duties are/were as a senior at other firms? For ex: did you review returns of staff or just prepare? How do you ask your clients to do any work? It’s supposed to be team of 3 but one is too lazy and the other one never knows what’s going on. I feel like I’m doing the work of at least 3 people. To make it worse my lead doesn’t consider it a problem after I brought it up from time to time. He’s extremely hardworking and made me peak at imposter syndrome. It’s also my new job so I try hard. I like what the project itself but the clients that I work with are nice but terrible at their jobs.

I’m exhausted and need a week off. No one can cover me on this project. Feeling really stuck. Even a week of working remote would be a big gain.
